Your Patients Are More Than Their Diagnosis. I Treat Them That Way.
You see their charts. I work with what the charts don’t capture. The woman with chronic back pain who’s also grieving her mother. The cancer survivor whose body still braces for impact months after treatment ended. The anxiety patient whose shoulders live somewhere near their earlobes.
You’re doing important work. But you can’t do all of it … and you shouldn’t have to.
I’m Jet Rupar, owner of Why Knot Wellness in Wexford, PA. For over 20 years, I’ve been the person providers call when their patients need bodywork that goes beyond “relax and enjoy.” I work with complicated cases, complex histories, and people whose bodies haven’t responded to conventional approaches alone.
If you’ve ever wished you had a massage therapist you could actually trust with your patients, keep reading.
The Clients I Work With
Let me save you time. If your patient falls into any of these categories, we should talk:
Chronic pain that won’t quit. Fibromyalgia. Arthritis. Degenerative disc disease. Failed back surgery syndrome. Nerve pain that’s been poked, prodded, imaged, and medicated with limited relief. I spent 14 years living with undiagnosed chronic pain, so I understand what it’s like when tests come back normal but the pain doesn’t care.
Cancer, at any stage. Active treatment, recovery, survivorship, or palliative care. I’m Healwell-certified in oncology massage, which means I know how to modify pressure around port sites, work with lymphedema risk, and adjust for the fatigue that comes with chemo. Your patients won’t have to explain why deep tissue isn’t appropriate right now.
Post-surgical recovery. Plastic surgery, orthopedic procedures, mastectomy, joint replacement. I’m Klose-certified in the Vodder technique for lymphatic drainage, which means I can help reduce swelling, support healing, and work with scar tissue before it becomes restrictive.
Trauma stored in the body. For your patients who’ve done the talk therapy but still feel stuck. Whose bodies hold tension that doesn’t respond to logic. Somatic therapy and Reiki work with the nervous system directly, helping release what words can’t always reach.
Anxiety and nervous system dysregulation. The patients who can’t relax even when they try. Whose stress response is stuck in overdrive. Bodywork can help regulate the nervous system in ways that complement your therapeutic work.
Why Providers Trust Me With Their Patients
I’m not a spa therapist. (Nothing against spa therapists. But your post-mastectomy patient doesn’t need a hot stone massage and a cucumber water.)
Here’s what I bring to the table:
20+ years as a Pennsylvania Licensed Massage Therapist. I’ve seen a lot of bodies and learned that no two respond the same way.
Healwell-certified in oncology massage. A 40-hour intensive focused on working with cancer patients safely and effectively. This isn’t a weekend workshop. It’s comprehensive training in understanding the whole experience of cancer, not just avoiding tumor sites.
Klose-certified in Vodder lymphatic drainage. The gold standard for manual lymphatic drainage. Essential for post-surgical patients and anyone managing lymphedema.
Level II Reiki practitioner (15+ years). For patients who respond to energy work, or who need something gentler than hands-on bodywork.
Trauma-informed training. I understand that bodies hold memories and that healing isn’t always linear. I follow the body’s lead rather than pushing through resistance.
Services That Complement Your Care
For oncologists, surgeons, and primary care physicians:
Medical Massage addresses diagnosed conditions, chronic pain, and post-surgical recovery. I review medical history, track measurable progress, and adjust treatment based on what’s actually happening in the body. I provide documentation for insurance and medical records.
Lymphatic Drainage Massage uses feather-light pressure to move fluid and support the lymphatic system. Ideal for post-surgical swelling, lymphedema management, and chronic inflammation. This isn’t deep tissue with a gentler name. It’s a completely different technique.
Oncology Massage is safe, gentle bodywork modified for cancer patients. I know when to use lighter pressure, how to position around surgical sites, and when to reschedule. Your patients can receive massage during chemo, radiation, and recovery.
For therapists, counselors, and social workers:
Somatic Therapy combines hands-on bodywork, breathwork, and energy healing to help release trauma stored in the body. When talk therapy has done its work but the body is still holding on, somatic approaches can help complete the process.
Reiki is energy healing that works with the nervous system to promote calm and emotional balance. Fully clothed, gentle or no touch. Good for patients who aren’t ready for hands-on work or who respond well to energy-based modalities.
For physical therapists and chiropractors:
Therapeutic Massage addresses muscle tension, compensation patterns, and stress that accumulates between your sessions. I’m happy to focus on areas you’re working on or provide general maintenance that supports your treatment plan.
How Referrals Work (It’s Easy, I Promise)
No prescription required. Your patient can book directly. That said, if they need documentation for insurance or you want something formal on file, I’m happy to work with whatever process serves them best.
Documentation provided. I can provide superbills, treatment notes, or whatever paperwork helps your patient get reimbursed or keeps their records complete.
Coordination of care. With your patient’s permission, I’m happy to communicate with you about what I’m seeing and how treatment is progressing. Bodies tell stories. Sometimes those stories are useful for the providers on the other end.
Same therapist every session. Your patient works with me, every time. No explaining their history to someone new. No inconsistency in approach. Their body becomes familiar, and treatment builds on itself.
Wheelchair and walker accessible. The office at 7500 Brooktree Road, Suite 117 is fully accessible.
Questions Providers Ask
Do my patients need a prescription or referral to see you?
No. They can book directly. That said, a prescription or referral can help if they’re seeking insurance reimbursement or if you want formal documentation for their file. I’m happy to work with whatever process makes sense for your practice.
What documentation can you provide?
Superbills, treatment notes, and progress summaries. Whatever helps your patient get reimbursed or keeps their medical records complete. Just let me know what format works best.
Will you communicate with me about my patient’s progress?
Yes, with their permission. I’m happy to share what I’m observing, what’s improving, and what might need attention. I find that coordinated care gets better results than providers working in silos.
What insurance do you accept?
I don’t bill insurance directly, but I provide documentation for patients to submit for reimbursement. HSA and FSA funds are accepted. Many patients find that’s the simplest route.
How do my patients book an appointment?
They can book online anytime through my Vagaro scheduling system or call 412.501.3239. First-time clients should allow extra time for intake.
How long are sessions?
Most sessions are 60 or 90 minutes. For patients with complex histories or multiple areas of concern, 90 minutes allows more thorough work. We’ll figure out what makes sense based on their needs.
How often should my patient come?
It depends on what we’re addressing. Acute issues or post-surgical recovery often benefit from weekly sessions initially, then tapering as they improve. Chronic conditions usually do well with bi-weekly or monthly maintenance. I’ll make recommendations based on how their body responds.
Is there anything my patient should know before their first visit?
Wear comfortable clothing. Bring any relevant medical records, doctor’s notes, or a list of medications if they have them. They should be ready to talk about their health history and what they’re hoping to get out of treatment. And they should know they’re in control of the session. If something doesn’t feel right, they speak up.
A Quick Check-In (Yes, This Part Is About You)
While you were reading about chronic pain, did you notice your own shoulders creeping up? When I mentioned nervous system dysregulation, did something in your neck quietly agree?
You spend your days holding space for other people’s pain, trauma, and healing. That takes a toll. And providers are notoriously terrible at taking care of themselves. (I can say this because I work with a lot of you.)
If you’ve been meaning to schedule a massage for yourself for … six months? A year? Longer than you’d like to admit? Consider this your nudge. You can’t pour from an empty cup, and your body is keeping track of every patient, every tough case, every late night catching up on notes.
The work you do matters. So does taking care of the person doing it.
Let’s Work Together
If you’ve read this far, you probably have someone in mind already. Someone whose body needs more support than you can provide in your office. Someone who would benefit from working with a massage therapist who actually understands their situation.
Send them my way. Or reach out if you want to chat first.
